It was my mother who got me hooked on Monarch of the Glen. The second series has just finished its first run in the UK, but we're only up to the end of series one in the USA, courtesy of BBCAmerica. Now, of course, I can't wait for the next new episodes. And yes, of course, I've visited the BBC Monarch of the Glen homepage and checked out all the synopses for series two!
The storyline in brief..... Archie MacDonald, having left his parents' estate in Scotland is about to open a fish restaurant in London, with his girlfriend Justine. A phone call from his mother sends him back to Scotland, where he discovers the estate needs some serious upgrading and the accounts are worse! Even harder for him to accept is the fact that his parents have made him the Laird, and therefore wholly responsible for the mess.
Should he forsake his ambition and career (and girlfriend) in London to return on a permanent basis? Or should he go back to London where his restaurant is making big bucks and marry Justine?
It's a charming series, made even more fascinating by the beautiful scenery of the Scottish Highlands. The production and filmography are what has made the BBC so highly regarded around the world and its nice to see them back at the top.
There's little information about Alastair on the web.... as yet! The best one I've come across is accessed by clicking on Alastair's picture, above.
